A sidekick’s life is shattered after a fatal mistake on a mission that ends up getting her hero killed. Six months later Holly finds herself wasting her life away, no purpose left in it. After a chance encounter with a journalist, Ashley, she begins to find hope and starts putting her life back together. When Ashley starts asking about her past, Holly withdraws back to her coping methods. But when Ashley’s life is threatened she must overcome her guilt and become the hero she once was.
This was a short film I directed and produced while attending the Art Institute of Portland. I had nine months to concept and develop a story, from pre-production to having it ready to screen by the end of post-production.

I assembled a team to start bringing this story to life; Morgan carter (director of photography) and Theodora Galarraga (production designer). We meticulously went over the script, discussing story, wardrobe, set design and how we were going to use the camera to help convey meaning.
Part of what I consider my job as producer is to make sure the cast and crew are happy and have what they need to do their jobs. This means keeping files and assets organized and accessible, coordinating schedules, being able to problem solve and adapt or adjust if things are thrown off schedule, and maintaining a positive atmosphere on set.
Although this production ran pretty smooth, and the end product was almost exactly as we had envisioned it, there are definitely things I now know I could have done better or more efficiently. I learned that there’s only so much planning I can do, and no matter how well thought out those plans are something will go wrong or get thrown off course; so just being prepared to problem solve on the fly will help me to keep a level head in these situations.
